Russian Anti-Drone System to Make World Debut at El Alamein Airshow

High-Precision Weapons JSC, a subsidiary of Russia’s state-owned Rostec corporation, will unveil its Bison Aerial Targets Engagement System at the El Alamein International Airshow (EIAS 2026) in Egypt, running from 8 to 10 September 2026. It is the system’s first international showing.

Designed to shield critical infrastructure from drones, Bison is advertised as capable of detecting, acquiring, identifying, tracking and destroying unmanned aerial vehicles around the clock, using machine-gun armament. Its radar sensors are said to handle both large and small aerial targets.

The system pairs a command post — which performs radar reconnaissance and passes target designation — with a set of machine-gun mounts operated from automated workstations. Each mount carries four 7.62mm machine guns, an electro-optical suite with television and thermal channels, an automatic target tracking system and a laser rangefinder.

“All processes are fully automated. The operator only needs to make a decision and issue a command to engage the target,” the manufacturer said, claiming proven effectiveness in real-world conditions.

Bison’s modular design and mounting on wheeled platforms are intended to allow rapid relocation between sites and quick changes of firing position. Rostec had previously announced deliveries of the system to the Russian Ministry of Defence.
